Wallowa Lake
The tradition continues! We just returned from a great Labor Day weekend with wonderful friends and fabulous scenery. After almost 8 hours in the car, we arrived at beautiful Lake Wallowa in NE Oregon. Definately worth the drive to spend time with our Boise friends and continue our yearly camping trip.
One day we headed into a small town called Enterprise. There is a farmer there who loves old tractors, so he collects them, restores them, and shows them off to anyone that wants to come out.
Quinn enjoyed walking through and looking at all the old machines.

Izabel unfortunately fell asleep right before we arrived, so she slept in the car while we looked around.

They even had an old mule named Celia for the kids to ride. This is as close as Quinn got. He wouldn't actually sit on her.
He did pet her though.
The lake was so pretty. The water was freezing, but that didn't stop the kids from playing in it a little.
Quinn of course began digging and building dams with rocks.
Izabel wanted to give her friend Carsen a hug, but he wasn't too sure.

Quinn was in heaven because there was a small little stream that flowed right through the side of our camp site. It kept him busy most of the weekend.
He made a boat out of some water bottles and affectionately named it "Mimi."
Izzy had lots of little friends to run around with. Here she is with Bailey.
Quinn and his friends pretty much floated things down the stream the whole time.
Yum, watermelon!
Each night we had visitors come through our camp. The first night, we only saw one buck, but the second night, he must have told his friends. We all of a sudden found ourselves surrounded by 5 deer. They waltzed right in and began snacking on whatever food we had laying around.
They definately were not afraid of us. No zoom needed for these shots. They were close enough to touch.
This is our favorite.
After eating, instead of leaving, they just decided to make their beds right outside of camp in the grass.
So many breathtaking views. This was just outside of our camp.
We took the Wallowa Lake Tramway up Mt. Howard in a gondola.

They say it is the steepest gondola ride in North America.
There were great views going up.
The kids loved it.
Once at the top, we took a short little hike.
Then back down we went.
Playing with friends, Audrey and Brynn.
Of course we had to get a group shot. There were 6 families this year. The Cooks, The Siebolds, The Smiths, The Withers, The Coltons, and us, The McKinneys. 29 of us all together (12 adults & 17 kids including 4 newborns). We were quite the crowd and we had a great time hanging out.
What an amazing weekend. It's always so much fun to get together with friends and enjoy the great outdoors. Can't wait for our next adventure together.
